Relocated in 1806 to Framingham, having bought 50 acres of the Brimley Farm from John Lowell. Joseph sold the property to Dana Warren (q.v.) and moved to the old Jesse Belknap place (q.v.) later owned by (son-in-law) Elijah Everett Bacon4 {p584}. There is some doubt about his birth and parentage. Temple's History of Framingham asserts that Joseph was the son of Daniel and Elizabeth Haynes of Natick, possibly based on the knowledge that Charles Haynes moved to Sudbury shortly after his son Joseph's birth and remained there, while the Joseph who married Judith Rice was "of Natick". However, at least three factors favor the identification made here: the first son of Joseph and Judith was named Charles, there is no record in Natick of any Joseph Haynes besides this one, and Temple's assertion is clearly ruled out by the dates and ages for Daniel and Elizabeth Haynes.4 {p584}

He married first, Judith RICE 31 Jul 1804 at Framingham, both of Natick, transcribed as Lydia Rice in the vital records16,14 {p25},177 {p10}.
