Andrew Darby was born on 26 January 1706/7 at Beverly, MA.1 He was the son of John Darby and Deborah Conant. Andrew Darby was christened on 2 February 1706/7 at First Church, Beverly, MA; under the name Darbee.2 He married Elizabeth Patch on 2 April 1728 at Hamlet Church, Ipswich, MA.3 Andrew Darby died on 23 March 1783 at Westminster, MA; aged 76y.4 He was buried at Old Cemetery, Westminster, MA.5
Andrew Darby bought land in Concord's 'New Grant' (later Acton) in 1733 and evidently settled on it. He was active in Concord affairs, being variously assessor, selectman, and constable over the years. He sold that land in 1746 and moved about that time to Narragansett #2, where he bought lot 22 in 1748 from Seth Walker. That property included a grist mill, and he took up the occupation of miller from that time. He also became active in the new township, serving as proprietors' clerk and assessor before incorporation, and also as selectman afterwards.6 He was a weaver, miller.
