     Welthea Ripson and Zebulon Gilbert Rice appeared on the census of 1850 at Kendall, NY; on the 1850 census, Zebulon had a 14 year old boy named Alfred Whedon/Wheaton living with his family. Godfrey Whedon/Wheaton, age 13, lived with Zebulon's son, Jasper.2

     Ryan Barber was born on 6 October 1798 at Georgia, VT.2 He was the son of Uri Barber.2 Ryan Barber married Roxanna Rice, daughter of Elisha Rice and Eunice Farrar.1 Ryan Barber died on 1 June 1850.1 He was buried at Beechwood Cemetery, Kendall, Orleans Co, NY.1
     The first school house in Murray, now Kendall, was a log building, built in 1822. Ryan Barber was one of the first teachers.3 In May 1837 Ryan Barber, a magistrate, presided over the organization meeting for the Town of Kendall. From 1839 to 1841 Ryan Barber served as Supervisor for the Town of Kendall. On 1 June 1844, Ryan Barber was recorded as owning lot 58, 25 acres in the Town of Kendall.4,5

Miriam Harding1

     Miriam Harding married 1st Paul Hazelton, son of Paul Hazeltine and Mary Rice, on 7 November 1788 at Townshend, VT. If there were any children of Paul Hazeltine and Miriam Harding, they are unknown.1,2 Miriam Harding died circa 5 August 1793 at Pawlet, VT. There is a cemetery card for Paul Hazelton, dated 5 August 1793, age 26, but it is believed that this grave, although recorded to Paul, was actually for his first wife, Mariam. There is a marriage record for Paul Hazeltine of Pawlet to Rachel Butts on 2 November 1797 by John Griswold, Minister.1

     Frances Rice was born circa 1783, the date and Place of Frances' birth are not known. Beriah and Meriam Rice were recorded in land transactions at Annapolis between 1770 and 1783, at Dartmouth between 1787 and 1789 and at Halifax in 1790. Beriah Rice was listed on a tax roll in Halifax in 1792.2 She was the daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Meriam (?). Frances Rice was baptized on 26 March 1801 at Saint George's Church, Sydney, Cape Breton Co, NS.1 She married Hezekiah Spencer, son of John Spencer and Esther Bunnell, on 30 March 1801 at Saint George's Church, Sydney, Cape Breton Co, NS.3,1 Frances Rice died on 7 June 1866 at Mira Gut, NS.4,1
     Frances Rice also went by the name of "Fanny."1

     Samuel Morse Jr left a will on 15 August 1842 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS,, which was recorded 28 Oct 1843: LWT of Samuel Morse Sen.(sic), of Annapolis dated 15 Aug 1842. Wife: Amaret. Children: Elias Morse, Samuel Morse, Jun., Major Morse, Martin Morse and Sophia Bent the wife of Stillman S. Bent. Page 4, probate granted to Martin and Major Morse on 28 Oct 1843. Sophia was deceased by 16 Apr 1870, her children: Mary Bent, Harriet Reed the wife of John B. Reed, Jessie Easson wife of Alexander Easson. A John Emslie may have been a son-in-law.5

     Samuel Wheelock was the son of Obadiah Wheelock and Rachel Rice. Samuel Wheelock married Ann Elizabeth Bostans on 31 December 1829 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS.2 Samuel Wheelock died on 27 February 1872 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS.3
     The parents and Rice ancestors of Samuel are doubtful. Your authors note that Samuel is not mentioned in Obadiah Wheelock's will. Note also that Rachel Rice was born in 1745 so Samuel would have had to be born before 1795.4 He left a will on 1 January 1872 at Wilmot, Annapolis Co, NS,, which was recorded 29 Apr 1872: LWT of Samuel Wheelock of Wilmot, farmer, dated 01 Jan 1872. Wife: Ann Eliza Wheelock. Relationships not specified however he left his estate to the following: Samuel W. Barteaux, Abel W. Barteaux, Reece Goucher, G.E. Spurr and Samuel W. Baker.3

     Mary (?) also went by the name of "Polly (?)."2 7 August 1787 Windham County, VT Mary (?) and Thaddeus Hazelton sold land to a Mr Gates.1 Mary (?) and Thaddeus Hazelton resided in 1797 at Tinmouth, VT.1

     James Ingraham In her Cape Breton Kith and Kin, E E Jackson says that James Ingraham came with his parents about 1791 from New England to Margaree (Inverness County, Nova Scotia).
Is this the Jacob S Ingraham, enumerated in the 1818 census, age 30 and in Cape Breton for 27 years, residing at Baddeck, married with four children, parents born in the United States?3

     Catherine Rice was born before 18 September 1799.3,2 She was christened on 19 September 1799 at Saint George Anglican Church, Sydney, Cape Breton Co, NS. Francis and Mrs Owens were witnesses to this baptism.4 She was the daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Catherine Owens. Catherine Rice married Robert Cranton, son of Captain Robert Cranton and Ann Stone, on 26 September 1816 at Northeast Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.2,5 Catherine Rice died on 18 June 1856 at Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.6
     Robert and Catherine were "among the charter members of the Congregational Church organized in 1822. The land on which the first church was built, and where the cemetery now is at Margaree Centre, was donated to the church by this fine pioneer couple."7

     Obediah Wheelock married Martha Sumner on 26 October 1733 at Mendon, MA.1 Obediah Wheelock died before 5 April 1765 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS. Son Jesse, age 16, son of Obediaih Wheelock, husbandman, deceased, selected Obediah Wheelock, gentleman of Annapolis Royal as guardian.2

     Sarah Maria Ingraham was born in 1808.1,4,5 She was the daughter of James Ingraham and Ann Muckford. Sarah Maria Ingraham married Robert Muckford Rice, son of Beriah Rice Jr and Catherine Ann (?), on 17 March 1830.6,3 Sarah Maria Ingraham died on 19 February 1892 at Little Bras d'Or, NS; at age 84 years. The Rice Genealogical Register has the date as 18 February.7,5,8
     Sarah Maria Ingraham was also known as Sarah Margaret Ingraham.9,5 She and Robert Muckford Rice resided between 1830 and 1838 at Northeast Margaree, Inverness Co, NS. They joined the Baptist church there in 1835.1 Sarah Maria Ingraham and Robert Muckford Rice resided after 1838 at Little Bras d'Or, Cape Breton Co, NS. They joined the Upper North Sydney Baptist Church by letter of transfer on 15 November 1838.1 Sarah Maria Ingraham and Robert Muckford Rice appeared on the census of 1881 at Ball's Creek District, Cape Breton Co, NS; Robert Rice, male, married, age 75, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Farmer; Sarah Rice, female, married, age 72, born Nova Scotia; Mary Rice, female, age 11, born Nova Scotia; May McDonald, female, age 20, born Nova Scotia, Occ: Servant.10 Sarah Maria Ingraham and Robert Muckford Rice resided on 17 April 1891 at Leitches Creek District, Cape Breton Co, NS.      Robert Cranton was born on 19 May 1795.4 He was the son of Captain Robert Cranton and Ann Stone.3 Robert Cranton married Catherine Rice, daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Catherine Owens, on 26 September 1816 at Northeast Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.2,5 Robert Cranton died on 10 October 1871 at Margaree, Inverness Co, NS.4
     Robert and Catherine were "among the charter members of the Congregational Church organized in 1822. The land on which the first church was built, and where the cemetery now is at Margaree Centre, was donated to the church by this fine pioneer couple."3 He resided in 1871 at Margaree, Inverness Co, NS, with his son Henry Cranton according to the 1871 census.6

     Benjamin Belcher Reed was born on 26 February 1777 at Horton, Kings Co, NS.1 He was the son of Duncan Reed and Zerusha Post. Benjamin Belcher Reed married 2nd Sarah Rice, daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Meriam (?), circa 1825 at All Saints Anglican Church, Granville, Annapolis Co, NS. A partial extract of the Benjamin Reed entry: "Benj Reed Married for his second wife Sarah Troop Widdow of the late Joseph Troop of Granville and the Daughter of... Rice of Annapolis and had by her Joseph Troop their son Born 17 July 1826. Sarah his Wife departed this life 26 March 1827." It is likely that Sarah was born in Annapolis County and remained there when her father moved to Cape Breton.2 Benjamin Belcher Reed died on 24 April 1860 at Annapolis Royal, Annapolis Co, NS.1

     John King married 2nd Letetia Rice, daughter of Beriah Rice Jr and Meriam (?). F B Wichman, in his Lineage of Richard King (1819-18xx), lists one of the offspring of Lydia Smith (b1753) and Isaac Jr King as John King (b1782) who married a Letetia ? on 28 December 1808. It is likely that this is the second marriage of Letetia Rice, daughter of Beriah Jr Rice and mother of Elizabeth McKillup who married Thomas King, Thomas being an earlier offspring of Lydia Smith and Isaac Jr King!2,1
