Daniel Duncan was born on 13 February 1711/12 at Billerica, MA, under the name Dunkin.4,5 He was the son of John Duncan and Sarah Dutton. Daniel Duncan married Sarah Rice, daughter of Gershom Rice and Elizabeth Balcom, before 1721; but the marriage is not found in any of the Massachusetts vital records, including those of Worcester. Ward mistakenly refers to Daniel as 'John Duncan' (the name of Daniel's father).1,6,3
Note that Petersham was not incorporated until 1754. The births of the Duncan children, which all occurred before that, do not appear in the Petersham vital records.

Zebadiah Allen married Mary Hoar, daughter of John Hoar, on 21 January 1724/25 at Sudbury, MA.1,2,3,5 Zebadiah Allen married Nancy (?) before 1777; (Ward incorrectly took Hannah Grout to be the second wife of Zebadiah Senior and gave the 1761 date of her marriage to Zebadiah Junior. Nancy (?)1,2,3

Nancy (?) was born circa 1702, as calculated from her gravestone. She married Zebadiah Allen, son of Benjamin Allen and Frances Rice, before 1777; (Ward incorrectly took Hannah Grout to be the second wife of Zebadiah Senior and gave the 1761 date of her marriage to Zebadiah Junior. The latter had removed to Rutland District by 1761, and the marriage record clearly describes the groom as Zebadiah of Rutland District. Unfortunately, no record is found of the father's second marriage.1,3 Nancy (?) died on 7 June 1777 at Sudbury, MA; aged 75y, under the name Allen, from smallpox.2,4 She was buried at Tower Hill Draper Cemetery, Wayland, MA.4

Silence Rice was born on 30 April 1703 at Sudbury, MA.1,2,5,6 She was the daughter of Jonas Rice and Mary Stone. Silence Rice married Ezra Rice King, son of Lt Samuel Rice King and Abigail Clapp.2,3,4,7 Silence Rice married John Bond; but the time and place of this marriage are unknown. The only evidence for it is Silence's gravestone in Templeton. The Worcester vital records show a marriage between a John Bond Jr and a Silence King in 1751, but that was a young couple who proceded to raise a family in Worcester and later Conway.8,9,10,1,5 Silence Rice died on 8 December 1763 at Templeton, MA; aged 60y, under the name Bond.8,5 She was buried at Center Cemetery, Templeton, MA.8
Her gravestone in Templeton states that she married first Ezra King and second John Bond, and many have claimed that her second marriage was in 1751. There was indeed a Silence King who married a John Bond at Worcester in 1751, but that was a much younger Silence who continued bearing children for many years afterward and eventually died at Conway in 1812 aged 83.8,11,1,5 Neither the marriage of Ezra nor the births of any of his children are entered in the Sudbury vital records. Several of the births are found in the Worcester vital records, however.

Adonijah Rice was born on 7 November 1714 at Worcester, MA.4,5 He was the son of Jonas Rice and Mary Stone. Adonijah Rice was baptized on 6 July 1715 at Sudbury, MA.6 He married Persis Gates, daughter of Jonathan Gates and Persis Shepard, circa 1739 at Worcester, MA; Persis of Worcester, and they resided there. (not found in the published records).7,2 Adonijah Rice died on 20 January 1802 at Bridport, VT.8
At one point, a contributor claimed that Adonijah's daughter Abigail was really a son Nathaniel, but without offering any evidence in support. Now that the vital records have been examined, it is clear that Abigail was indeed Abigail, as stated in Ward and two of the Supplements. The remnant of the original Abigail-renamed-Nathaniel is still maintained in the ERA database for future reference as #3163, but not linked to any family. He and Persis Gates resided circa 1739 at Worcester, MA.9 Adonijah Rice was in the military circa 1755 serving in the French and Indian War, member of Capt. Andrew Dalrymple's company for five months, ending 12 Dec. 1755. In 1756 he was a sergeant in the company, "age 43, cooper, born and resident of Worcester."9,10 He resided before 1802 at Bridport, VT, with his son, Abel, whom he survived.8
