     Persis Rice was born on 1 June 1753 at Westborough, MA.2,3 She was the daughter of Lt. Eleazer Rice and Mehitable Stone. Persis Rice died before 1767; as she was not mentioned in her father's will.3
     Perhaps she is the Persis Rice who married George Townsend of Brookfield in 1770. In describing Persis on p. 77, Ward writes 'not in the will,' but his abstract of the will on p. 78 clearly lists her as one of the legatees.1

John Rice married Esther Fay, daughter of Deacon Hezekiah Fay and Esther Gibbs, on 6 October 1785 at Westborough, MA; listed as John of Marlborough and Esther of Southborough. Ward states that the marriage took place in Marlborough, but the marriage is actually found in the vital records of Westborough.5,2,3 John Rice died on 20 April 1812 at New Braintree, MA.6
     John Rice resided after 1806 at New Braintree, MA, 'whence their children came to Shrewsbury to be brought up...5,7' There is some question of this relationship, as noted by WARD.5

     Benjamin King was born on 25 March 1722 at Worcester, MA.1,2 He was the son of Peter Rice King and Elizabeth Flagg. Benjamin King married Sarah Taylor, daughter of Benjamin Taylor and Sarah (?), on 3 September 1745 at Townsend, MA.3,4,5 Benjamin King died on 2 November 1777.4
     Benjamin went off to War and never returned. Sarah moved the children to Maine.
According to the Muster Roll of the New Ipswich Company:
     Led by Capt. Ezra Towne in the 3d regiment of foot, commanded by James Reed, belonging to the Army of the United Colonies of North America. This company was at Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775.
     Benjamin is listed as joining on May 13, 1775, born in Worcester, age 53, occupation as farmer. He was 5 ft 6 in with brown hair and blue eyes.4,6

Seth Oakes married Elizabeth Shevally on 25 May 1757 at Bolton, MA; listed as Seth of Bolton and Elizabeth of Stow.2,3,5,6 Seth Oakes died on 24 April 1810.3
     DAR Patriot Index, vol. 1, p. 502, lists a Seth Oakes, b. 8 April 1733; d. 24 April 1810; m. Elizabeth Shevally; QM Sgt; MA. The published vital records say that he was christened, not born, on 8 April 1733.3
