Deacon David Wilder|d. 17 Nov 1776|p32.htm#i3677|Thomas Wilder||p55.htm#i15822|Susanna Hunt||p55.htm#i15823|||||||||||||
Deacon David Wilder was the son of Thomas Wilder and Susanna Hunt.2 Marriage banns for Deacon David Wilder and Martha White were published in 1751 at Lancaster, MA.3 Deacon David Wilder married Martha White, daughter of Deacon Josiah White and Abigail Whitcomb, on 4 December 1751 at Lancaster, MA.1,4 Deacon David Wilder died on 17 November 1776 at Lancaster, MA.5
His parentage is uncertain. There is no record of his birth in Lancaster, and only two baptisms there show any likelihood of being his: one in 1714 was the presumably infant son of Ebenezer, and the other in 1737 was an adult. Although the Rice Gen'l Register asserts that David's parents were Thomas and Susannah (Hunt) Wilder, the church records show numerous baptisms of their children, including seven all at once in 1718 when they joined the church, and no son David is listed. Unfortunately, the records of David's death do not specify his age. He was chosen deacon of the 1st Church on 24 September 1761 at Lancaster, MA.6

Sarah Houghton was possibly the dauther of James and Sarah born at Lancaster in 1723, or perhaps the daughter of Lt. John baptized there that same year.3
