Lydia Rice Williams was born on 27 September 1764 at Marlborough, MA.3,4 She was the daughter of William Williams and Phebe Rice.2 Lydia Rice Williams married Capt. John Howe, son of Josiah Howe and Mary Adams, on 1 May 1800 at Marlborough, MA; listed as John Howe 3d (WARD has reservations about this identification).3,5 Lydia Rice Williams died on 17 February 1838 at Marlborough, MA; aged 64 (sic) shown as wife of Capt. John Howe.6,3 She was buried at Spring Hill Cemetery, Marlborough, MA.6,3
Note that the recorded age at death of Lydia W. Howe, like the implied age of Lydia the mother of John Howe's children, is inconsistant with the recorded birth of our Lydia Rice Williams. One possible explanation would be an error in the recorded birth, but another would be that a completely different Lydia Williams is the one who married John Howe.
