'Hezekiah Rice (1745-1827) served as private under Captains Prentiss and Baldwin, Colonels Marshall and Dike, Mass. Militia.² He was in the military circa 1776, on military rolls is called Hezekiah Rice, Jr, from Framingham, to distinguish him, as is supposed, from his elder cousin, Hezekiah Rice (WFN: 372), as both were in the service from Framingham. "Ezra" Rice, Jr was in Prentiss' Company, Marshall's Regiment, at Noddle's Island, Boston harbor from July 19 to December 1, 1776, and gave an order for wages, July 15. He also served from August 16 to November 29, 1777.⁹ Hezekiah certified, 15 March 1806, that he this day attended the funeral (of his father, Bezaleel Rice), heard the will read, and was satisfied. The settlement of his estate was recorded at Middlesex County Court in 1827.^2,10 Possibly had three additional children who died young.²
