     Josiah Rice was born on 8 February 1759 at Rutland (Hubbardston), MA.4,3 He was the son of Edward Rice and Mary Stone.3 Josiah Rice was baptized on 10 February 1760 at Rutland, MA.5 He married Betsy Belcher Hooker on 23 May 1790 at Rutland, MA.1,2,6 Josiah Rice died on 29 October 1830 at Rutland, MA; age 72, a revolutionary pensioner.7,8
     Josiah Rice was in the military circa 1775 serving in the army "44 months, 17 days, and received a bounty of £20" [Military Rolls].7 On 5 May 1777 Josiah Rice had John Rice of Rutland for his guardian, Josiah age 17.7 He is said to have had 9 children at Rutland, although there are no records there of any of them. Three are reported as his.7

     Asa Wilder was born on 16 October 1730 at Lancaster, MA, Rice Gen'l Register quotes 'Descendants of John Rugg' as specifying this
birth as 1734 in Boylston (obviously wrong, since Boylston did not
even exist then).3,1 He was the son of Josiah Wilder and Prudence Keyes.2 Asa Wilder was baptized on 6 December 1730 at 1st Church, Lancaster, MA.4 He married Lydia Rugg, daughter of Reuben Rugg and Lydia Ross, on 12 December 1754 at Lancaster, MA.1,5
     Asa Wilder was in the military marching from Lancaster to Cambridge on 19 April 1775 in Capt. Daniel Robbin's Co., Col Asa Witcomb's Regiment. He also served as Lieut in Capt. John Bradley's Co., Col Benjamin Gill's Regiment on 14 August 1777 to assist in repelling Burgoyne.6
