     Josiah Rice was in the military circa 1775 serving in the army "44 months, 17 days, and received a bounty of £20" [Military Rolls].⁷ On 5 May 1777 Josiah Rice had John Rice of Rutland for his guardian, Josiah age 17.⁷ He is said to have had 9 children at Rutland, although there are no records there of any of them. Three are reported as his.⁷

     Asa Wilder was in the military marching from Lancaster to Cambridge on 19 April 1775 in Capt. Daniel Robbin's Co., Col Asa Witcomb's Regiment. He also served as Lieut in Capt. John Bradley's Co., Col Benjamin Gill's Regiment on 14 August 1777 to assist in repelling Burgoyne.⁶
