     Note that there is a conflict between the recorded birth and baptism
dates for both Jonathan and his next-younger sibling Esther.
It seems clear, though, that there really was only one Jonathan born
in this 1733-34 time frame, for there is only one birth on record
and only one baptism. Of course, the conflict could also be resolved
by assuming an error in the baptism date, but the church records from
that era were more carefully kept on the whole. Note that the
deaths of the two Esthers and one Jonathan were all recorded at the
same time, making it seem especially likely that these death records
are complete. Moreover, it would be quite surprising for this
Jonathan to have lived more than two years and never been baptized.^2,1
