Your authors note that the Rice Fort was documented to exist by Major George Washington who led the Virginia militia into Pennsylvania during the French and Indian War. Y-DNA analysis has shown that there were many different Rice families in colonial America. Therefore, it is very unlikely that Daniel and Abraham Rice were Edmund Rice descendants.⁶

However, this must be a different John Rice.

     Abigail Broad was born circa 1775 at Massachusetts, as calculated from the 1850 census. She married John Rice, son of Ralph Rice and Sarah Sawyer, on 2 July 1797 at Barre, MA.^3,1,2 Abigail Broad died on 30 August 1868.⁴
