i: RICE (female) [QQ5055]. Your authors note that her existence is in doubt. The only evidence in favor is a reference in the will of Josiah Rice to "son-in-law" Samuel Wood. Ward does not make clear whether that term has the modern meaning or the older one of "step-son". If, as Supplement 1 asserts (contrary to Ward and to the published transcription of the Framingham vital records), Josiah's wife was named Wood at the time of her marriage to Josiah, then this Samuel Wood was very likely her son by a previous marriage.^{1 {p49}}

He died 6 Mar 1742/43 at Sudbury^{2 {6, 18},11 {p319},56}. He was buried at Sudbury, in Old Revolutionary Cemetery⁵⁶.

He married Abigail BREWER 12 Feb 1712/13 at Sudbury^{1 {12, 13},2 {6, 18},45 {p1},11 {173, 246}}. She was born 5 Apr 1682 at Sudbury^{11,1 {p12},2 {p18},45 {p1}}, died 6 Jun 1758, aged 76y at Sudbury (under the name Parmenter)^{2 {p18},11 {p319},56}, was buried at Sudbury, in Old Revolutionary Cemetery⁵⁶, daughter of John BREWER and Elizabeth RICE.

He died 2 Dec 1783, aged 96y (sic) at Grafton, MA^{83,1 {p14},2 {p19},30}. He was buried at Grafton, in Old Cemetery⁸³. One source shows Thomas Drury as son of Thomas and Ruth.³¹

He married first, Sarah CLARK 10 Jun 1719 at Framingham, MA^{1 {p14},2 {p19},45 {p1},16 {p271}}. She was born 5 Aug 1701 at Framingham^{16,2 {p19}}, died 10 Apr 1743 at Grafton, MA (under the name Drury)^{83,2 {p19},30}, daughter of Capt Isaac CLARKE and Sarah STOW.

Captain Gershom WHEELOCK [QQ542, w137] (Lydia³ RICE, Henry², Edmund¹) , born in 1693 at Sudbury, MA, (not found in the published records)^{1 {p14},14 {p3}}, son of Deacon Samuel WHEELOCK and Lydia RICE. He died 16 Mar 1770, aged almost 77 at Shrewsbury, MA⁵².

He married first, Abigail FLAGG 1 Jan 1718/19 at Sudbury, MA, both of or near Worcester^{1 {p14},11 {p195}}. She was born 15 Apr 1694 at Watertown, MA^{34 {2:3}}, died 17 Oct 1762, aged 68y at Shrewsbury, MA (under the name Wheelock)⁵², daughter of Benjamin FLAGG and Experience CHILD.

He married second, Elizabeth TAYLOR 19 May 1764, according to Ward, Gershom had passed his 70th year at the time of this marriage^{1 {14, 54}}. She was born 16 Feb 1696 at Marlborough, MA (under the name Tailor)^{3,1 {p54},46 {1:21}}, daughter of James TAYLOR Jr and Elizabeth. She was admitted to the church with full privileges 28 Nov 1731 at Shrewsbury, MA^{1 {p54}}. They declared their intention to marry 27 Apr 1764 at Shrewsbury, listed as widow Rice⁵².
