He resided in 1743 at West Dunstable (Hollis), NH242 {p131}. He resided after 1765 at Temple, NH242.

Children of Capt. Zedekiah DRURY and Hannah AXTELL:

He was in the military about 1776, serving in the American Revolution. He moved to Litchfield, Herkimer Cty, NY. Great care should be used in separating this Ebenezer Drury and Ebenezer Drury, son of Daniel Drury.31

He married Meriam GOODALE 1 Dec 1768 at Shrewsbury, MA, listed as Ebenezer of Temple, NH52,30,2 {p64}. She was born 3 Mar 1748 at Shrewsbury52, died after 1792 at Herkimer, NY, daughter of Enos GOODALE and Mary ANGIER.

He married Elizabeth. She was born about 1748. Many of William and Elizabeth Drury's children died young.31

She was born 24 Jul 1748 at Shrewsbury52, died 7 Jun 1812 at Shelburne, MA (under the name Drury)158, daughter of Abraham KNOWLTON and Martha LAMSON. The marriage identification is uncertain, as Thomas is such a common name. For example, there was another Thomas Drury born in 1747 (second cousin of this one) who lived in what became Auburn, Mass. That other Thomas is believed to have married Experience Butler. In any case, this identification hinges on Thomas' being described as "of Temple" at the time of the marriage.31,30,2 {p64}
vi
Nathan DRURY [QQ646], born 23 Nov 1748 at Hollis, NH242 {p372},2 {p64},30. He died 22 May 1770, aged 22y, but the identification is uncertain31,56. He was buried at Hollis, in Congregational Church Cemetery56,31.

Joseph DRURY [QQ254] (Caleb4, Rachel3 RICE, Henry2, Edmund1) , born 19 Dec 1720 at Framingham, MA16,2 {19, 64},30, son of Caleb DRURY and Elizabeth EAMES. He died 17 Dec 1808 at Framingham, but this identification is probably wrong. Temple's History of Framingham implies Joseph never returned to Framingham after moving to Sudbury and Natick, and it also ascribes this death date to another, unidentified Joseph16,4.

He married Lydia Fuller WILLARD 10 Jan 1744/45 at Natick, MA, listed as Lydia of Sherborn76,2 {19, 64},30. She was thinly documented.

Thomas DRURY Jr

This report includes only the first 6 generations of the Deacon Edmund RICE clan. A nine-generation version is available to members of the Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Learn more about Deacon Edmund RICE and these pages at our home page.

Thomas DRURY Jr [QQ729] (Thomas4, Rachel3 RICE, Henry2, Edmund1) , born 12 Jan 1720/21 at Framingham or maybe Grafton, MA16,83,2 {p64}, son of Thomas DRURY and Sarah CLARK. He died 3 Nov 1778, aged 58y at Ward (Auburn), MA, (at Oxford per Rice Gen'l Register)127 {p94},2 {p64}. He was buried at Auburn, MA, in Center Cemetery127. (Rice Gen'l Register indicates that there were twins, born circa 1762, both died young, but also notes that they were the children of Elijah and Sarah.)2 {p65}

He married Elizabeth BROOKS 27 Nov 1746 at Grafton, MA2 {19, 64},83 {p196}. She was born 25 Jun 1730 at Concord, MA35 {p129}, died in 1807, daughter of Ebenezer BROOKS and Sarah FLETCHER. Her name was evidently a source of confusion to the minister at Grafton. At least four of her children (Thomas, Benjamin, Molly, and Susanna) were entered in the church records at baptism as children of "Thomas and Abigail". Two of those were also recorded in the town birth records with the correct mother's name.83 She may have remarried in Auburn, 12 September 1779 to Samuel Hubbard of Holden, but direct descendants disagree.31

Children of Thomas DRURY Jr and Elizabeth BROOKS:

Major Thomas DRURY [QQ745], born 21 Dec 1747, (2 December per Rice Gen'l Register p. 64) at Grafton, MA83,31,2 {64, 145}. He died 6 Jul 1836, aged 90y at Ward (Auburn), MA127,2 {p145}. A different Thomas Drury was also born in 1747, but in NH.31

He married Experience BUTLER. She was born about 1744, as calculated from her death record, died 2 Dec 1834, aged 90y at Ward (Auburn) (under the name Drury)127,2 {p145}.
ii
Sarah DRURY [QQ746], born 22 Mar 1750/51 at Grafton, MA83,2 {p65},31. She died 31 Jul 1835, aged 86y at Grafton (under the name Wesson)83 {p370}.

She married Abel WESSON 27 May 1767 at Grafton2 {p65},83 {p196}. He was baptized 9 Jun 1745 at Grafton83, died 11 Nov 1825, aged 80y at Grafton83 {p370}, son of John WESSON and Ruth DEATH.
iii

iv
Dr Benjamin DRURY [QQ748], born in 1758, as calculated from his gravestone, baptized 23 Apr 1758 at Grafton, listed as son of Thomas and Abigail Jr, probably in error83,31,2 {p65}. He died 29 Jun 1843, aged 85y at Spencer, MA, from old age, a widower112 {p240}. He was buried at Spencer, in Old Cemetery112.

Sarah DRURY [QQ730] (Thomas4, Rachel3 RICE, Henry2, Edmund1) , born 13 Oct 1723 at Grafton, MA83,2 {19, 65}, daughter of Thomas DRURY and Sarah CLARK. She died 10 Jan 1779, aged 55y at Grafton (under the name Brooks)83,2 {p65}. She was buried at Grafton, in Old Cemetery83.

She married Joel BROOKS 26 Oct 1743 at Shrewsbury, MA, both of Grafton2 {19, 65},52 {p145}. He was born 14 Jul 1720, died 11 May 1811, aged 90y at Grafton, MA2 {p65},83 {p324}, was buried at Grafton, in Old Cemetery83, son of Ebenezer BROOKS and Sarah FLETCHER.

Children of Sarah DRURY and Joel BROOKS:

i
Sarah BROOKS [QQ782], born 14 Aug 1744 at Grafton83,2 {p65}. She died 13 Mar 1779, aged 34y at Ward (Auburn), MA (under the name Prentice)127. She was buried at Auburn, MA, in Center Cemetery127.

She married John PRENTICE 8 Dec 1763 at Grafton, MA2 {p65},83 {p176}. He was born 24 Feb 1738/39 at Grafton83, died 26 Mar 1812, aged 73y at Ward (Auburn), MA127, was buried at Auburn, MA, in Center Cemetery127, son of Rev Solomon PRENTICE and Sarah SAWTEL.
ii
Mary BROOKS [QQ783], born 8 Feb 1746/47 at Grafton, MA83,2 {p65}. She died 2 Nov 17522 {p65}. There is an offset pattern between the town and church records of Grafton, where two successive pairs of daughters with the same names appear, first in the church records and then in the town. The most likely explanation is that the town records were made long afterwards and incorrectly. However, that is far from certain.
iii
Elizabeth BROOKS [QQ785], born 13 Feb 1748/49 at Grafton83,2 {p65}.

She married Jacob DWINELL 18 Apr 1771 at Grafton, listed as Jacob of Sutton2 {p65},83 {p175}. He was born about 1745. He was also known as Jacob DARNEL.

v
Lucy BROOKS [QQ787], born 21 Jul 1752 at Grafton83,2 {p65}. She died 13 Jan 1819, aged 66y at Grafton (under the name Wadsworth)83.

She married Ebenezer WADSWORTH 10 Jan 1770 at Grafton83 {p175}. He was born 20 Aug 1745 at Grafton (under the name Wadworth)83, died 24 Oct 1817, aged 71y at Grafton83. The identification of this Ebenezer hinges on the reported age at death. Unfortunately, that age may have been calculated from the wrong birth date because the Grafton vital records show three different Ebenezers from the relevant period: one who appears out of order in the transcription (and may therefore have actually been an Aaron in the original records) and two brothers born in 1746 and 1753, respectively. The naming pattern of this Ebenezer's children gives a nod toward the tentative identification shown here, in that the first four children were named after his wife, his wife's mother, the mother of the tentative Ebenezer, and himself, but that evidence is weak at best. Further research will be necessary to confirm the questionable birth transcription and the age of Ebenezer in life.
vi
Mary BROOKS [QQ788], born 4 Feb 1755 at Grafton83,2 {p65}. She died 26 Aug 1855, aged 100y 6m 20d at Petersham, MA (under the name Farrar), from old age181 {95:145.16}.

She married Rev Joseph FARRER 28 Jul 1779 at Grafton, MA2 {p65},83 {p175}. He was born about 1744, as calculated from his gravestone, died 5 Apr 1816, aged 72y at Petersham, MA123.

vi
Jonathan BROOKS [QQ811], born 25 Jun 1759 at Grafton83,2 {p65}. He died 22 Jul 1759 at Grafton83,2 {p65}. Both his birth and death are listed twice in the published vital records: once as Jonathan and once as Jonah. It seems highly unlikely that twins should survive birth and four weeks of infancy, only to die independently the same day. The two entries therefore must refer to one baby. The confusion undoubtedly stems from the common use of "Jona" as an abbreviation for Jonathan.
