He was in the military serving in the Revolutionary War in Capt. Simon Edgell's company, which marched to Cambridge on the Lexington alarm in 177571 {p209},159 {15:82}. He inherited his father's homestead, plus a half-interest in the Stone mills on the Sudbury River, which he operated with Josiah Stone until 1822, when they sold out to a syndicate forming the Saxon Factory Company.71 {p208} He made a will 18 Sep 1828 at Framingham, mentioning wife Persis, grandson Edwin M. Stone, two children of son Martin by his second wife, son Abner and son-in-law Nathan Stone to be residuary legatees, and son Abner to be executor71 {p209}. Abijah MOORE [QQ4190] (Tamar4 RICE, John3, Edward2, Edmund1) , born 31 Aug 1724 at Sudbury (under the name Moor)11,2 {25, 77}, son of Lt. William MOORE and Tamar RICE. The Rice Gen'l Register claims that Abijah died in 1796. Indeed, an Abijah Moore died that year in Boylston, but he was clearly a different person. The probate records show that Abijah of Boylston left only a wife and four small children.20 {docket 41254},2 {p77}

He married Eunice GIBBS 28 Oct 1747 at Sudbury2 {25, 77},11 {199, 237}. She was born 20 Feb 1726/27 at Sudbury11, daughter of Nathaniel GIBBS and Bathsheba PARMENTER. Abijah MOORE and Eunice GIBBS were dismissed from the First Parish Church at Sudbury to a Christian Fellowship in Princeton 6 Aug 176482 {p171}.

His widow, Margaret released to her son Edmund, on 8 April 1797, the improvement of her thirds in the real estate, excepting one seat of a pew in the meetinghouse for her own person during her life1 {p94}.

She married Capt. Ephraim JENNINGS 31 Mar 1743, (literally 1742-3) at Sudbury, MA, listed as Ephraim of Framingham and Sybilla of Sudbury11,16,1 {p53},2 {p109},45 {p8}. He was born 27 May 1720 at Framingham, MA16,2 {p109}, died 6 Apr 1802, aged 82y at Natick, MA76,56,2 {p109}, was buried at Natick, in North Natick Cemetery56,76, son of Stephen JENNINGS and Susanna BIGELOW. On 29 December 1784, Capt. Ephraim Jennings of Natick was appointed guardian of his wife's nieces, the children of Micah Rice of East Sudbury, deceased: Elizabeth and Levinah (over 14) and Jane and Nelly (under 14).1 {p96}

He married Elizabeth RICE 26 Mar 1751 at Sudbury, both of Sudbury, MA11,1 {53, 95},45 {p19}. She was thinly documented. Elizabeth may have been previously married as indicated by Supplement 2 / Part 1.14 {p21} They relocated in 1781 to Princeton, MA, from Bolton with five children185 {2:241}.

Jason RICE [QQ25413, w1231, wf424], born 26 Oct 1768 at Sudbury11,1 {95, 169},14 {p21}. He died 24 Nov 1849, aged 80y at Boylston, MA96. He is said to have resided in the southerly part of Worcester Co, and had a large family, but WARD could not trace him.1 {p169} Note that the Holden vital records show the marriage of a Jason Rice in 1794, but no children of that union.

She married John LOKER about 17502 {30, 109},45 {p8}. He was born 5 Sep 1719 at Sudbury, MA (under the name Looker)11,2 {30, 109}, died in 17812 {p109}, son of Henry LOKER and Mary RICE.

If this identification can be confirmed, it clears away the two problematic marriages asserted by the Rice Gen'l Register, both of which appear to be to men who actually married Eunice's sisters62.

Micah RICE [QQ2641, w532] (William4, Edmund3, Edward2, Edmund1) , born 26 Aug 1740 at Sudbury, MA11,1 {53, 95}, son of William RICE and Hannah GRAVES. He died in 1783 at Framingham, MA, (not found in the published records)1 {p95}. His estate was settled by his widow Elizabeth, who filed an inventory of £64.6.0 on 7 May 17831 {p95} On 29 December 1784, guardianship of Elizabeth and Levinah Rice, over 14, and Jane and Nellie Rice, under 14, minor children of Micah Rice was granted to Ephraim Jennings of Natick. He (Ephraim) married their aunt, "Sibleth" Rice (WRN 529).1 {95, 96}

He married Elizabeth BENT 11 Feb 1762 at Sudbury, MA, Elizabeth of Framingham, MA1 {p95},11 {168, 260}. She was born 1 May 1743 at Framingham, MA16,1 {p95},2 {p69}, died 24 Jul 1822, (1821 per Ward) at East Sudbury (Wayland), MA (under the name Rice)62,1 {p95}, daughter of John BENT and Elizabeth REED. The Bent genealogy asserts she married Jesse Eames (q.v.), but there is no record of the marriage, and, although Jesse Eames did indeed have a wife Betty, her age at death does not match the birth of Elizabeth Bent.23 {p28}
