John RICE [QQ3308, w911] (Eleazer⁴, Edmund³, Samuel², Edmund¹) , born 19 Mar 1755 at Westborough, MA^{57,1 {p78}}, son of Lt. Eleazer RICE and Mehitable STONE. He died 20 Apr 1812 at New Braintree, MA²⁰⁷. He resided after 1806 at New Braintree, "whence their children came to Shrewsbury to be brought up..."^{52,1 {p142}}.

He married Esther FAY 6 Oct 1785 at Westborough, MA, listed as John of Marlborough and Esther of Southborough. Ward states that the marriage took place in Marlborough, but the marriage is actually found in the vital records of Westborough^{57,1 {p142},45 {p31}}. She was born 14 Sep 1767 at Southborough, MA⁵⁵, died 12 Aug 1835, aged 68y at Oakham, MA (under the name Bullard)²¹⁵, daughter of Deacon Hezekiah FAY and Esther GIBBS. There is some question of this relationship, as noted by WARD.^{1 {p142}}

Led by Capt. Ezra Towne in the 3d regiment of foot, commanded by James Reed, belonging to the Army of the United Colonies of North America. This company was at Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775.
