Lydia RICE

This report includes only the first 6 generations of the Deacon Edmund RICE clan. A nine-generation version is available to members of the Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Learn more about Deacon Edmund RICE and these pages at our home page.

Lydia RICE [QQ1536, w194] (Benjamin3, Edward2, Edmund1) , born 6 Jun 1695 at Marlborough, MA3 {p157},1 {p23}, daughter of Benjamin RICE and Mary RICE. She died 10 Jan 1755 at Brookfield, MA1 {p63},109 {p525}.

She married Cyprian RICE 25 Dec 1721 at Marlborough, MA3,1 {23, 24, 63},45 {p11}. He was born 17 Dec 1691, (1693 per Ward) at Marlborough3,1 {p24}, died Nov 1788 at Brookfield, MA, (not found in the published records)1 {p63}, son of Capt. Peter RICE and Rebecca HOWE. He made a will 17 Nov 1785 at Brookfield, mentioning son Solomon; daughter Betty Bridges; and grandsons Moses Rice and Silas Bridges1 {p64}. His will was proved 2 Dec 1788 in Worcester County, MA1 {p64}. Ward subdivided this person into three supposed children of Peter Rice: twins Zipporah and Zephaniah, born on the correct date, and Cyprian, born a couple of years later. The "twins" are apparently just mangled versions of the name in Cyprian's birth entry in the Marlborough vital records: "Zipperan". The name "Zephaniah" was probably also partly due to confusion with a second cousin Zephaniah (WRN 306) who was born nine years later (also at Marlborough). They resided in 1722 at Brookfield, MA1 {p63}.

Children of Lydia RICE and Cyprian RICE:

i
Betty RICE, b. 1723, MA

v
Silas RICE [QQ2910, w688], born 15 Sep 1732 at Brookfield109,1 {p64}. He died 7 Jul 1736 at Brookfield1 {p64},109 {p526}.

She married Bezaleel SAWYER. He was born 2 May 1685, (your authors note that a naive calculation of the birth date from the known date and age of death would give May 13th, as shown in the Rice Gen'l Register, but such a calculation fails to account for the calendar shift of 1752)2 {p13}, died 25 Aug 1760, aged 75y 3m 12d at Lancaster53 {402, 324},56,2 {p13}, was buried at Lancaster, in Old Settlers Cemetery53 {p402},56, son of Thomas SAWYER and Hannah LEWIS.

Cyprian RICE

This report includes only the first 6 generations of the Deacon Edmund RICE clan. A nine-generation version is available to members of the Edmund Rice (1638) Association. Learn more about Deacon Edmund RICE and these pages at our home page.

Cyprian RICE [QQ1544, w216, w217, w218] (Peter3, Thomas2, Edmund1) , born 17 Dec 1691, (1693 per Ward) at Marlborough, MA3,1 {p24}, son of Capt. Peter RICE and Rebecca HOWE. He died Nov 1788 at Brookfield, MA, (not found in the published records)1 {p63}.

He married Lydia RICE 25 Dec 1721 at Marlborough, MA3,1 {23, 24, 63},45 {p11}. She was born 6 Jun 1695 at Marlborough3 {p157},1 {p23}, died 10 Jan 1755 at Brookfield, MA1 {p63},109 {p525}, daughter of Benjamin RICE and Mary RICE. Cyprian RICE and Lydia RICE resided in 1722 at Brookfield1 {p63}.
